Blog Post 4: Reflecting on the Environmental Geography of Your Meal or Product

 1A: I would say the easiest solution to reduce the environmental impacts my meal has globally is to simply stop all production of everything that negatively affects the Earth, but unfortunately, that is not an option. My realistic solution is to begin powering cheese factories specifically with renewable energy. Energy that does not contain harsh chemicals. If factories use energy that is powered by wind or solar then the environment in which we all globally live in will begin to heal. In my opinion, multiple different types of factories need to consider this, not just cheese producing factories/farms. Limitations include gathering resources at such a large scale that will make this able to happen and money.  1B: My solution to reducing environmental impacts locally includes decreasing the amount of cheese factories we have around the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin single handily has 130 cheese factories located variously throughout the state. If we reduce that number to around 35-50

  What environmental impacts were associated with the production of your meal? 1A: Mozzarella cheese was a huge component of the meal I described in blog post number two. The pizza, bread sticks, and veggie loaded mac n cheese all contained mozzarella cheese. On the Pizza Shuttle's website, it was highly advertised that the mozzarella cheese they use is 100% from Wisconsin. I was not able to find the exact cheese producing company that the Pizza Shuttle uses, considering there are over 1,200 cheesemakers within Wisconsin's boarders, but my most educated guess would be that they receive their mozzarella cheese from BelGioioso Cheese located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In 2014, BelGioioso's mozzarella cheese was awarded first place for "best in class" at the American Cheese Society Competition.  Although it is a pizza shop, which contains lots of greasy food, vegetables are still ingredients in most dishes. Blog Post 2 - Introducing My Meal - Morgan Hunt

       On the night of October 7th, 2021, a few friends and I went to the Pizza Shuttle located in the lower east side of Milwaukee. This is the most recent, big sized meal I had before completing this blog post. Below are the contents of the meal with as many details as I could find:  Slice of Peperoni Pizza (1): mozzarella cheese and peperoni a top their fresh, made daily dough with their signature homemade pizza sauce.  Soft Garlic Bread Sticks (3): Pizza Shuttle pizza dough cut into strips, baked, topped with parmesan cheese and garlic butter. Served with a side of their homemade pizza sauce.      Side Salad with Caesar Dressing: romaine lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sprinkled asiago cheese, croutons, and caesar dressing. 1) What is one local effect or impact of plastic bag waste you observed in the video that you didn't know about, hadn't thought about before, or just found particularly interesting?       An impact of plastic bag waste that I found particularly interesting was the effects it has on animal life both on land and in water. Humans tend to forget that we share an Earth with millions of other life forms that help this world go round and without them, we are only making matters worse for ourselves. Every year, American's as whole throw away about 100 billion plastic shopping bags and about 10% of that ends up in the world's oceans. As shown in the video documentary, dolphins located in Hawaii that used to play with seaweed, now play with plastic bags because it is far more likely for them to come by plastic, than it is for them to come by marine algae.        It is also shown in the video documentary that Delhi, India still dumps it's garbage in piles throughout the land a
